Tata Sierra EV — The Return of a Legend (Expected: May 2026)
If you are planning to buy a new car in 2026, this article is a complete guide for you. This year, the Indian automobile market is witnessing a major transformation — the dominance of SUVs, the rapid rise of Electric Vehicles (EVs), and the return of some iconic names. According to the latest reports from CarWale, CarDekho, Autocar India, and ZigWheels, more than 63 new cars are expected to launch or have already launched in India this year. Let’s explore them one by one.
Back in the 1990s, one car became an icon on Indian roads — the Tata Sierra. Now, it is making a comeback, but this time in a fully electric avatar.
The Tata Sierra EV is expected to launch officially by the end of May 2026. After multiple test sightings and official teasers, Tata confirmed that it will become an important part of its expanding EV portfolio, positioned between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV.
Key Specifications (Expected)
- Battery Options: 55 kWh / 65 kWh
- Expected Range: 500–600 km (ARAI)
- Drivetrain: RWD and AWD (dual-motor)
- Expected Price: ₹18.50 lakh – ₹25.50 lakh (ex-showroom)

In terms of design, the Sierra EV retains its iconic “glass house” aesthetic with a flat bonnet, boxy proportions, and connected LED light bars at both the front and rear. The interior is expected to feature a dual-screen setup, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and ambient lighting.
One of the most interesting features is Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, allowing the Sierra EV to charge another stranded EV. It will also support Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), enabling users to power devices like laptops, camping equipment, or even coffee makers outdoors.
